VerseOne Distribution approved as ISRC Manager to issue ISRC Numbers to Artists
VerseOne Distribution is authorised by IFPI to issue ISRCs for music tracks uploaded to VerseOne Distribution and this means that Artists posting their tracks on our platform can now simply generate a unique ISRC number to be associated with each track.
The ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is the international identification system for sound recordings and music video recordings. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier for a specific recording which can be permanently encoded into a track’s Meta Data as its digital fingerprint.
Each ISRC number is unique and only relates to one individual track. Each version or mix of a track must have its own unique ISRC. For collections of tracks such as an EP or Album or merchandise (CD), an EAN or UPC number is required.
Encoded ISRCs provide the means to automatically identify recordings for royalty payments.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) recommends that all music producers use ISRC.

The rationale for authorising ISRC Managers is to improve the quality of data by allowing skilled service providers to develop effective and accurate processes that are then used by their clients. ISRC Managers need to be specifically appointed in that role.

Benefits of using ISRC
The ISRC system is the key to royalty collection for recordings in the digital information age.
- ISRC is a unique, reliable, international identification system.
- ISRC provides a unique tool for the purpose of rights administration.
- ISRC is a useful identification tool in the electronic distribution of music.
- ISRCs are readable by hardware already used in the recording industry.
- ISRCs can be used without requiring investment in special equipment or technologies.
- ISRCs are a mandatory requirement of Official Chart governing bodies.
UPC and EAN Numbers
A UPC (12 Digit Universal Product Code number) or EAN (13 digit European Article Number) is simply a number which can be exclusively associated with your Album, EP, Single or Merchandise Item. Unlike an ISRC number which is used to identify an individual recording a UPC or EAN number is used to identify a group of recordings or a physical product.
